Learning To Read Enemy Waves Before They Hit

Learning To Read Enemy Waves Before They Hit

August 7, 2026 · Markus Feldkamp

Almost every tower defence game tells you what is coming next, and almost nobody reads it. I was guilty of this for years, treating the wave preview as decoration. Once I started checking the preview before each round, my planning changed completely. Fast enemies mean I want more control effects up front. Armoured groups mean I switch to piercing damage instead of splash. The trick is to prepare during the calm between waves rather than scrambling once the timer starts. Even a five-second glance at the incoming lineup saves you from a rushed, expensive fix later. Make it a routine: preview, then adjust one thing, then start the wave. That small discipline turned a lot of my near-losses into comfortable clears.
